Nutrition

Nutrition is a large part of our everyday lives. Not only do we need it to survive but also to perform well. As athletes we need to pay special attention to what we eat. We have all experienced that we eat can change our lives. Below are some of my daughter's favorite eats to maintain her performance levels for swimming. This would be what she eats in a typical day.

Breakfast:
Bacon and Cheese Croissant
Greek Yogurt with Granola
Milk

Avocado with Italian dressing drizzled on top.

Trail Mix - custom made by me

Trail Mix Recipe:
This recipe is one of her favorites you can add anything you want to it. It has plenty of protein for after practice and races. Typically she only eats a couple of handfuls of this at a time.

Equal parts Salted Cashews, Pecans, Lightly Salted Almonds, M&M's
Put ingredients in a large zip-lock bag and roll bag around to mix thoroughly. Sometimes we add dried fruits like blueberries or strawberries. Play around with it and find something that you like.

There are lots of blogs out there about nutrition. However, one of my favorites is by Olympic gold-medalist Garrett Weber-Gale. Click here to check out his page.
